Scrabble Scramble Spells SUCCESS for the LCMC
Published: Wednesday, April 28, 2010 7:00 am Source: Literacy Council of Montgomery County NewsletterAssemble 113 scrabble players, add music, food and fabulous raffle
prizes, and the result is a great fundraiser for the LCMC.
The March
21st event raised over $13,000 for the LCMC. We are indebted
to our
sponsors for their generous underwriting: Shapiro and
Burson, LLP
(Triple Word Sponsorship); Snider Weinstein, PLLC (Double
Word
Sponsorship); Lenore England (Double Letter Sponsorship);
Alston &
Bird, LLP (Triple Letter Sponsorship). And hats off to all
of our
event volunteers, who put packets together, set up game
boards,
greeted and registered players, sold letters and raffle
tickets,
directed traffic, checked scores, looked up words, and
packed up the
games. As the saying goes, "it takes a village" to support
our
efforts to provide high quality services to our adult
learners and
their tutors. Congratulations to our 3 top scoring teams:
1st place:
Cheryl Kagan and David Spitzer; 2nd place: Dan
and
Beth Mallon, Ryan May and Susan Sanford;
3rd
place: Monica Darst, Mollie Meyer, Gaylen DiSanto,
Morriah
Horani. We
hope to see you all next year!
