Kagan resonates with youth
Published: Wednesday, August 18, 2010 8:00 am By: Billy Astrove Source: Gazette.netIt's often said that elections are about the future, and since no one has a larger stake in our future than young people, one way to judge the relevance of a political campaign is the degree of enthusiasm it generates among today's youth.
Cheryl Kagan, who's running for State Senate from District 17, counts among her supporters many voters (and future voters) under the age of 30, including me. She has received the endorsement of the Montgomery County Youth Slate, and has within her campaign the Kagan Youth Caucus, which I have been honored to chair.
The Youth Caucus has designed youth-oriented campaign literature, canvassed door-to-door, attended events such as the Rockville Twilight Rotary Runfest, distributed information at gathering places like Rockville Town Square and Metro stations, and energetically waved signs for Cheryl on Route 355. We support Cheryl because she speaks clearly to Maryland's future.
Cheryl has supporters of all ages, however I want everyone to know that among a demographic sometimes considered politically unaware or apathetic, her message of effective new leadership for District 17 resonates loud and clear. As Americans, it is our responsibility to vote, and I recommend Cheryl Kagan to people of all ages.
