Happy September!

So many of you enjoyed my last “photo album” email that I decided to send an update on my Summer activities.  As you’ll see, I’ve been busy!

Loved celebrating Gaithersburg High School’s graduation with Dr. DeRionne Pollard, President of Montgomery College.

Interviewed by ABC 7 as part of my initiative to lobby the Governor for State funding during Metro’s critically needed safety repairs.
Got the good news from Gov. Hogan at a Rockville press conference that the State would provide the full $1 million I sought for much-needed shuttle buses during Metro SafeTrack.

Grateful to Congressman Chris Van Hollen for his kind words at my fundraising event. He will be a fabulous Senator!
Sen. Rich Madaleno & I swapped stories about Maryland’s budget and our focus on education and transportation funding… as well as our enthusiasm for our next President (I’m With Her)!
Singer/songwriter and progressive activist
Tret Fure performed at my campaign fundraiser. Thanks to all who attended!

Rockville Police Chief Terry Treschuk retired after 27 years of dedicated leadership. Thank you for your service!

Making a furry friend at the annual Montgomery County Agricultural Fair.

Republican Senate Leader J.B. Jennings and I may represent different parties, but we often work together on policies affecting our State.

What a thrill to attend my 9th Democratic National Convention! It was exciting to have a moment to chat with Cecile Richards, President of Planned Parenthood.
Toured the Novavax headquarters in Gaithersburg with Governor Hogan.
Recognized for my legislative efforts to address drugged/drunk driving at a conference in Chicago.
Relaxed in the Berkshires with friends at theFalcon Ridge Folk Festival, where several of my Folk ‘N Great Music alumni performed.
Celebrated 2 years of my Senatorial Scholars.  Delighted to offer financial aid for deserving college and graduate students who live in District 17. For information and an application, please visit my website.
Shot some hoops in Rockville at the annual National Night Out Against Crime. It’s one of my favorite opportunities to catch up with neighbors and constituents.
Thanks to this Corporal and all of the police officers who work to keep us safe year-round!
I love introducing myself to adorable little ones at the annual Gaithersburg Labor Day Parade!
Marched in the Parade with Delegates Andrew Platt and Kumar Barve through the streets of Olde Towne Gaithersburg.
Thank you for taking the time to check out my pictures!  I will send another update soon with more in-depth details on some of the policy proposals I will be introducing in the next legislative session.
